The Ocean Sprint 7m SOLAS approved fast rescue boats are rated under the SOLAS regulations for a capacity of six persons.  This refers to the hoisting weight meaning that the boat can be hoisted with six persons on board.  They meet the speed requirements of six knots fully loaded with engine, have seating for five persons including room for one person lying down.

General Arrangement

The rigid hull, deck and transom are fabricated with an infused resin construction method  using "E" glass and vinyl ester resins with all cores of PVC foam (no organic materials used).

The deck has a molded-in water tight bow locker with a flush fitting hatch.

The deck is non-skidded.

Below deck cable routing.

The craft have a full-height transom which provides a high degree of structural strength.

The removable five chamber collar is shaped by template exactly to fit the curves of the boat in both the horizontal plane and in the sheer of the boat.   The collar has a built-in bolt rope system.  The bolt rope slides into a track system built into the boat. The fore and transom ends of the tube are secured with fabric straps.

Each chamber is provided with an inflation / deflation valve and a relief valve.

The collar has a full length lifeline on D-ring patches, a full length rub strake which provides wear protection and two boat paddles with storage patches.

The collar material is a Hypalon/Neoprene coated  polyester with a 1470 GSM and a 1670 decitex. GSM is grams per square meter and it measures weight per area.   Decitex of material is how tightly the material is woven.  The denser the material the more puncture resistant it is.  The material that Otech uses has a 10 x 10 weave. This determines the strength of the polyester fabric sandwiched between the Hypalon and the neoprene back sheet.

Seating is provided for six persons.  Two persons are seated on the engine hatch, two are seated behind the helmsman, the helmsman is seated aft of the console and the sixth person is laying down on the foredeck or seated on the forward locker.

The craft are hoisted using a single lift point frame located astride the engine hatch and/or a certified lift sling.  The rescue craft have four stainless steel lift points, two forward and two aft, for use with the lift sling.  Additionally, there are two transom bollards, a bow bollard, a stainless steel bow eye and stainless steel transom tie-down eyes.

Propulsion packages are available with outboard and I/O applications  with jet drives or outdrives.  The engines are SOLAS approved.

Model OTSSO070-550-1 - Propulsion is provided with twin, stern mounted SOLAS approved outboard engines. The maximum horsepower is 180 due to the fact that the 90hp outboard is the largest SOLAS approved outboard available.

Model OTSSO070-41-02 - Propulsion is provided by a SOLAS approved  four or six cylinder diesel inboard engine with associated electrical and mechanical controls, a universal jointed output shaft coupled to a Mercruiser Bravo II Marine I/O stern drive unit.  The single SOLAS marine diesel engine is rated at a maximum of 250 hp.

Model OTSSO070-6B-01 - Propulsion is provided by a SOLAS approved four or six cylinder diesel inboard engine with associated electrical and mechanical controls, marine gear and a universal jointed output shaft coupled to a marine water jet.  The single SOLAS marine diesel engine is rated at a maximum of 250 hp.

Two types of steering systems are available - mechanical and hydraulic.  (Note: The mechanical system is not used on the I/O models.) If the steering fails, an emergency tiller is located in the rear storage compartment.

The fuel system has a permanently mounted forty-six U.S. gallon fuel tank that is located beneath the forward deck. The tank is equipped with a fuel gauge, fill fitting and cap, vent hose and fitting, engine supply, return hoses and fitting.  The supply fitting has a fuel shut-off valve.  The vent line is equipped with a check valve to prevent fuel spillage.  A Racor filter/water separator is inline between the tanks and the engine.  The engine is also equipped with an engine manufacturer's fuel filter.  The fuel gauge is located by the fuel shut-off valve underneath the aft inspection port on the foredeck.

The electrical system is a dual 12-volt DC battery rechargeable system. The boat has two outfitting positions that affect the location of the electrical system components.  Option one is a center console with an aft storage box where the batteries are located under the aft storage box. Option two is inline seating where the batteries are located in the forward part of the engine compartment.   It has a battery selector switch and breaker panel. The searchlight, charging receptacle and navigation light switches are located by the helmsman's station.  Recharging the battery is accomplished by plugging a shipboard charger into the searchlight receptacle.  The charger may not exceed 12 volts DC and 10 amps.  A VHF marine radio is located at the helmsman's station.

The craft are equipped with a 2.5 pounds (1.15kg) dry chemical fire extinguisher stowed on the starboard side of the console.

Water is removed from the deck by the transom mounted self-draining scuppers while underway.  The drains are fitted with flexible babbles to prevent the back flow of water into the boat when reversing or by a following sea.  The auto hull drain plug is located on the aft port side of the transom.  A safety plug is provided and is located under the port aft inspection plate.

The craft are equipped with a quick release torsional snap shackle mounted to the bow plate U-bolt.  A releasing lanyard is attached to the shackle.

The craft are equipped with a self-righting unit to right the craft in an emergency situation.  The system consists of an arch, an inflatable bag and pressurized cylinder equipped with a tripper.

The fast rescue craft are available in International Orange only as it is a SOLAS requirement.

A collar repair kit, an operator's manual and shipping preparation and packaging are included.

The craft have a five year limited hull warranty.
