Home 9 Blog 9 Announcing the 3rd Annual Educators’ E-cycling Initiative 2012
School may be out for the summer, but it’s still a busy time for school districts throughout Minnesota that are cleaning out old electronics and equipment to prepare for new equipment for the coming school year.OceanTech is pleased to announce that the company is once again sponsoring an Educators’ E-cycling Initiative, with the goal of recycling hundreds of thousands of pounds of out-of-date electronics in 2012 – for free!In 2011, we took more than 204,000 pounds of electronics off the hands of 100 school districts statewide, and this year we’d like to double or even triple that amount. With more than 400 school districts within our service territory, we know there are literally millions of pounds of out-of-date, broken, or just unused electronics filling up storerooms and warehouses, and we’d be happy to pick them up. Here’s how it works:If your used electronics are palletized and shrink-wrapped, or if you’ve stored them in Gaylord boxes, we can arrive at your facility and take them off your hands for free. If you’d like to have specific instructions on how to wrap them up, give us a call and we’ll walk you through the process. Or, you can deliver your electronics to us at our Minneapolis recycling facility, again for free. We do have to charge for palleting if it hasn’t been done, but we charge a low $25 fee per pallet for the service. The benefits to school districts of e-cycling are many. Not only can we help free up valuable storage space on your campuses and make room for new fax machines, copiers, and computers, but we go one step further. In appreciation for your efforts, we’ll donate a penny per pound for every pound you recycle to Tree Trust, a non-profit organization devoted to environmental education and community tree plantings. If your district needs to have hard drives shredded, we provide that service as well. So contact us for all your electronic e-cycling and data destruction needs, and help a good cause at the same time. For more information, give us a call at 612-331-4456.
